"A happy person is someone who is functioning in their highest potential, which means accepting all that there is, including suffering. To be happy while suffering, according to the Buddha, is a purification, because suffering is something we create (delusion), while being happy is our natural state (this is why when you sit in meditation you eventually become blissed out). Even people in your life who appear to be causing you to suffer by making you angry are your teachers, because they are showing you the side of yourself that needs healing – the side that isn’t in touch with the love and peace that are at your core. Anger (and all its derivatives, from depression to anxiety) is our worst enemy, but anger is there to teach you patience, compassion, clarity, spaciousness in your thinking, love, and all of the aspects that constitute your highest potential and source of happiness.”
